Discover The Oaks School Difference.
Teachers model collaboration and apply a child-centered, constructivist-based approach to support a range of learning styles and nurture the critical thinking and cognitive skills of every student.
By intentionally guiding the students in building personal and interpersonal skills, our integrated program addresses self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Our resources, physical learning spaces, and expertise in child development create a learning environment tailored specifically for elementary-aged students. The partnerships we build between engaged families and highly skilled faculty and staff create a joyful, child-centered environment for all.
Rooted first in joyful and affirming books and units of study, students expand their understanding of and respect for differences. Through their time at The Oaks, students are prepared to be informed and active leaders and citizens of the world with a deep understanding of the impacts of historical and contemporary events.

HOUSE
Join us for a family friendly event where you can meet with faculty, tour the campus and discover how Pine Point School actively helps children in developing a strong academic and ethical core with a lifelong curiosity about their world.
Fueled by the belief that the joy of childhood and the joy of learning can go hand in hand, The Oaks balances inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking in the classroom. For over ten years, The Oaks has developed and implemented initiatives to address equity, inclusion, and belonging, including building an anti-bias curriculum throughout the school.
Kindergarten - Second Grade
In an environment that is both supportive and challenging, students' innate curiosity is encouraged through inquiry that allows students to wonder and investigate as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists. These are the ‘learning to’ years where growth and knowledge are developed with purpose. Students explore academic areas and develop skills across core subjects of literacy, math, social studies, and science.
Third & Fourth Grade
Using the knowledge and skills learned in K-2, students deepen and expand upon their understanding by engaging in a variety of learning opportunities that involve inquiry, research, independence, and time management. Students are asked to approach and solve problems in more than one way to stretch their developing skills. Meaningful homework assignments and broader use of technology are introduced to help students build routines, study habits, and practice using a variety of learning tools. Students utilize these strategies to further explore topics in literacy, mathematics, social studies, and science.
Fifth & Sixth Grade
In a departmentalized program with four core subject teachers and a robust advisory program, students tackle challenging problem-solving, long-term projects, and in-depth studies of language arts, math, social studies, and science. Students engage in cross-curricular work and engage in investigations that require focus, collaboration, and higher-level thinking skills. In addition, students explore expanding leadership opportunities to advocate for themselves and others.
The Roots Center
The Roots Center serves students in grades 1-6 with diagnosed language-based learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) through structured, evidence-based interventions. Our integrated approach combines an inclusion program, with students spending time in their classrooms with peers, and individualized intervention and support. The goal is for all students to lead with their strengths and build a positive identity as they grow academically.
An individualized learning profile is developed for each student, including:

“Prior to The Oaks, my daughter was not a confident math student. Thanks to the Cognitive Guided Instruction math approach, she was able to use methods that worked for her and not forced to do things in specific ways as can be the case with older models of math teaching. It has really expanded her math thinking and she`s able to analyze numbers in ways that are so impressive for her age.”
